“Q&A With Fashion Stylist Kendrell...”
I have to begin this by saying that I really appreciate the people that actually read my blog. It’s amazing to me that I even have 38 people who care enough to wanna stay tuned in to what I post on a regular basis. It’s truly humbling for me. I do it for love of fashion--simple & pure. Thank you all!

The response I got after featuring the last Q&A with Fashion Stylist Toye Adedipe was wonderful! Not too long after I posted it, I received an email from Kendrell. Kendrell is a stylist based in NYC who’s worked with numerous artists including David Banner & up & coming singer, K. Michelle. Armed with an affinity for beautiful things & people as well as an almost lethal shoe addiction, Kendrell is set to leave his footprint on the fashion industry. Get to know him...
[THC] -- When did you first fall in love with fashion?
I fell in love in fashion since I was in elementary school. My mom would take me school shopping twice a year and I always loved to go show off at school. LOL I would always get three pairs of sneakers a funky one, a white pair and a black pair. This is how I also fell in love with shoes.
[THC] -- How did you decide that fashion styling was going to be your career?
I decided that styling was going to be my career when I felt that I reached the peak of my Luxury Retail career. I managed Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga. I just woke up one day and said you know what I'm not going to make these companies rich, I'm going to make
[THC] -- How do you define style & your personal style?
Style is something that one must possess. I think style is an expression that is incorporated with ones fashion sense. I describe my personal style as simple but a little over the top with FLY sneakers.
[THC] -- What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I think the most rewarding part is to see your vision come to life.
[THC] -- What is your greatest source of inspiration when it comes to creating a look for a client or editorial spread?
I live in New York City so people are my inspiration. Of course I read magazines and watch television but I honestly just people watch.
[THC] -- If you could have dinner with three fashion designers, who would they be?
I would have dinner with Alexander McQueen (R.I.P.), Tom Ford and Tracy Reese.
[THC] -- Who would be your dream client & why?
My dream client would be Victoria Beckham. I think her style is SICK!!
[THC] -- What do you think, if anything is missing from the fashion industry?
I think the industry is missing designers that are afraid to take risks. If you look at the past two seasons we've seen a lot of studded clothing. I understand that this is a business and designers want to capitalize on the demand. I just think we need more designers to set trends instead of following them.
[THC] -- What advice would you give to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry?
You must have tough skin! The fashion industry is a tough industry and it's also a fun and rewarding industry. Just be prepared for the good and the bad.
[THC] -- I love quotes & poems [beautiful words]; do you have a favorite quote or words you live by?
I always tell people... You can do anything in life if you just work hard at it; my parents taught me this. Just work hard and keep the grind up and don't give up. Once you achieve your goal don't let it go to your head and stay humble. If not, GOD will take it all away. I can't have that happen to me!!
